Story Development and Editing Services

How Does Your Story Garden Grow?

Words are wild, organic things.

As writers, we scatter them on the page and watch with wonder as they blossom into story. But as any good gardener will attest, it’s not enough to simply sow the seeds, sit back, and see what pops up. Much of the hard work happens after your story comes to life.

A story isn’t a single, perfect flower; it’s an entire garden, a complex ecosystem where every character, every plot point, and every detail interconnect to create a balanced whole. Like any garden, your story garden needs careful tending—and maybe a little taming—to be its most beautiful. It takes a sharp eye and an even sharper pair of shears to shape a draft into an elegant narrative, but with patience and vision, you can create a refuge your readers will seek out time and again.

Need a hand cultivating your masterpiece?

Whether you're in need of a full developmental edit, a copyediting service, or a quick proof and polish, I'm happy to pull on my gloves, sharpen my tools, and work beside you to ensure your story is balanced, beautiful, and whole. Because I believe in that work. I believe in digging deep and establishing solid roots. I believe in getting my hands dirty, pulling up weeds, and pruning until the light touches everything. Most importantly, I believe that you and your story can thrive.

How Can I Help?

Proofreading

Whether you’re self-publishing or submitting pages to agents and publishers, a polished manuscript is a must. Ensure your work is free from grammar, punctuation, spelling, and style errors by investing in a thorough proofreading service from an experienced editor.

Copyediting

Copyediting goes beyond identifying and fixing surface-level errors in grammar, spelling, and style. As your copyeditor, I'll delve into your manuscript line by line to evaluate sentence structure, clarity, and flow. I also strive to provide accuracy with careful fact-checking.

Line Editing

Line editing is a developmental service that not only strives to enhance language and eliminate errors at the sentence level but also works to improve your narrative by addressing scene work and other chapter-level storytelling issues, ensuring both your prose and your narrative flow flawlessly.

Manuscript Review

A manuscript review offers a detailed roadmap to guide you on your self-editing journey. I'll take a deep dive into your story, evaluating the strength of the narrative and detailing any structural weaknesses. Together, we'll create a personalized revision plan to help you perfect your final draft on your own.

Developmental Editing Package

The developmental editing package takes a comprehensive, top-down approach to editing your manuscript, combining an extensive developmental evaluation with a full chapter-by-chapter line edit to create the very best version of your work.  I'll help you execute an actionable editing plan and bolster your efforts with regular check-ins.

I’m completely blown away. I’m only maybe 15 percent into this manuscript review, and it’s a revelation! Thank you for this tremendous effort. What an amazing magnifier of not only this story but also my whole storytelling craft.
